trawling troll

For fun I posted the question to an online panel of "experts";
"what is the difference between trolling and trawling ?"
....And the official response is;

"a troll is someone who posts rude or offensive messages on a discussion group with the intent of disrupting the discussion or just p***ing everyone off. Trawling, in internet jargon, is sifting through large volumes of data looking for something interesting".

Now I'm confused ? !

pure garbage

In the U.S. - some 2.7 million tons of plastic are used to bottle water each year.
Once emptied, the bottle must be dumped. According to the Container Recycling Institute, 86 percent of plastic water bottles used in the United States become garbage or litter. Incinerating used bottles produces toxic byproducts such as chlorine gas and ash containing heavy metals tied to a host of human and animal health problems. Buried water bottles can take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade.

haven't mentioned fossil fuels used in getting water from source to shelf yet....

Flouride

As a small sample, In our society where asbestos, lead, silica, beryllium and many other carcinogens have found their way into the marketplace and then been recalled, one has to wonder why fluoride, so toxic it is used as a rat poison and pesticide, is embraced so thoroughly and so blindly. And still ??

testing testing -

This morning's Seattle PI lists an article of your famous American Medical Association testing the effects of PESTICIDES on "unsuspecting" pregnant women... signed into agreement with the stroke of George W's pen....

Terrestrial Ecosystem

U.N. Food & Agriculture 2002 reports production of;
pork 95 million tons,
poultry 72 million tons,
beef 60 million tons,
goat 11 million tons,
fish & seafood 100 million tons...
(how do ya feed em all......)?

U.S. Dept of Agriculture says the average American eats per year;
48.5 punds of pork,
57.5 pounds of chicken,
62 pounds of beef,
15.9 pounds of fishe & seafood
2.2 pounds of salmon

PCB content;
butter 70 ppb,
chicken breast 32 ppb,
beef steak 22 ppb,
salmon 15 ppb.

and in an "average" lifetime the heart beats more than two and a half billion times - that's about 100,000 beats per day... feed it.

* In September, District of Columbia Superior Court judge Judith Retchin ordered Jonathan Magbie, 27, to jail for 10 days for first-offense marijuana possession (a virtually unheard-of sentence in D.C.), despite the fact that Magbie was a quadriplegic with permanent tracheal, urinary, and stomach tubes and was often ventilator-dependent, in addition to having various other infirmities. (Magbie died four days later, after what the D.C. Health Department concluded in December was severely
inadequate care in jail and in an emergency room.)

Vacilando....

Is it better to travel than to arrive ?
It is hence traveling is constant arrival.
While arrival that precludes further traveling,
is most easily attained by going to sleep or dying.

. . . .thanx to L St C. for the journey to this thought

....how bout the mentally Ill Facility that forced it's very residents to work nude and perform sex acts... (commit me)
... Ya all know the CPR resuscitation method we all learned from the American Heart Association is bunk - throw your card away and sign up for the "new" refresher courses being offered....
...letsee, A barge w/1,000,000 gallons o asphalt ran aground and "only" spills 8,400 gallons.. into the James river... (sip sip)
...and I didn't even know there was a drinking water warning out due to crap spilled upstream... hmmmm..... untreated wastewater actually "bypassed" the treatment facility and we're drinkin the stuff...... (yum)

.....more on Middle East guns and the way they vote.
....Sadam Hussein trial... I could bring up several discussions on this current event.... reminds me of the way they handled 7th grade at Blatchley for a comparison... "you must ORDER them to fix that elevator judge" ! not to "tell em not to let it happen again". . . ya know... SH just might be onto something there..... much more relevant than a non-working elevator.

.... double indemnity on racism article of note.... (still don't get why 2 wrongs will never make a right) ?
...... only 116 homicides in this neighborhood this year.... (only)?
...... Right on Ted Turner ! delivering the 141st Landon Lecture (to an empty chamber) comments that "Iraq is NO better off than before" the invasion, and the seriousness of Nuclear Arms still on a "hair trigger" and none seem too concerned today.... we could all be wiped clean off the face of this planet in less than an "afternoon" - not just "us" but "everything on the planet".
